
Jean Crump Carr of Indianapolis passed away at home on January 18, 2016. She was born September 23, 1930 in Springfield Illinois to Edgar Martin Crump Jr. and Edith Fraser Crump.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William J. Carr; her son Bradley Neal Carr and her daughter Christina Marie Carr; her grandson William A. Carr; a sister and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Mrs. Carr attended Blackburn College and graduated from the State University of Iowa with a BA. She earned an MA from Purdue in Media Services and served in schools in Iowas and Massachusetts as well as Eastwood Middle School and North Central High School in Indianapolis. While Chair of Library Media at North Central she established the school archives and facilitated moving the library from analog to digital management.
Mrs. Carr was an active member of Epworth Methodist Church where she served as a Stephen Minister. She also organized the Prayer Ministry for over 15 years.
She had an avid interest in genealogy, documenting family history through research, photographs and narrative.
A Memorial Service will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 6450 Allisonville Rd. on Saturday, January 30, at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Gathering Room. I lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church Missions.
